Warmia and Mazury
is a region located in the North-Eastern Poland. It is famous
for its forests and lakes. It is one of the favorite regions
for summer leisure. Big forest complexes with almost endless
ground routes offer possibility for biking in one of the least
polluted environment. The entrance to forests is free in Poland and you only
need to remember some rules how to behave in the woods. Lakes
offer possibility for angling, sailing and bathing. 120 km
East from Olsztyn, in the
Mikołajki and Giżycko, there is one of the biggest
lake complexes in Europe offering extraordinary opportunities for sailing
and motor-boating. One of the biggest attractions of Warmia
and Mazury is so called Ostroda-Elblag
canal which connects Ostroda with the Baltic see. It is
more than 100 km long and is famous for many floodgates. The
unique feature of the Ostroda-Elblag canal are railways
connecting neighboring lakes on which the ships are carried
with passengers on a kind of railway lorries. Remember that it could be good idea not to go home for holidays but, instead, persuading your family to come to Warmia and Mazury to spend holidays with you here. |
